Jason

Marni:  Jason, if you could go anywhere in the world this year, travel to any country, any island, anywhere, where would you go?

Jason:  Well, the key is this year, because the place I would go is Cuba, because Cuba is changing so rapidly, and I understand that it’s, in some ways, a time capsule right now. There’s all these old cars and old architecture, and things just really haven’t been updated. So I would love to travel through time, and it seems like going to Cuba is a good way to do that.

Marni:  I couldn’t agree more. Cuba is so high on my list because I think it’s a fascinating place. But this is a huge world and we have so many places we could possibly go. I personally know that I won’t be traveling anywhere out of the country, so I’m looking at more local travel within the United States.

Jason:  You do? How do you know?

Marni:  I’ve got a lot going on already, so I know that I’m gonna be staying local. But I am planning on visiting one of our national parks over the summer.

Jason:  Oh, OK, which one?

Marni:  I’m gonna be going to Yosemite, and I’ve never been there.

Jason:  Yeah, I mean that’s great. But like, I think to me it’s about prioritizing. I want to get to the places that are happening, and that are gonna change. I mean, when you travel somewhere, you’re not just traveling to another place, you’re traveling to that place at a particular time. You only get this little window there, so you have to time your travel just right, I think.

Marni:  There you go, yeah. I think you make an excellent point. Well, I wish you well on your travel adventures.

Jason:  Gracias.

Go Super to Listen Go Super!

Marni asks Jason where he would go if he could go anywhere in the world this year. He says that this year, he wants to go to Cuba because he thinks it would be a fascinating place to visit right now because of the beautiful architecture and old cars. Jason thinks that Cuba is changing quickly, and he wants to see it before it’s too different.

Cuba is a place Marni would like to visit as well. But this year, she plans to stay a bit more local. She is going to visit Yosemite National Park, in California.

If you could go anywhere in the world this year, where would you go? Do you have any trips planned for 2012 so far?

Hi, Parion!

Not exatly that one. Just ran into a jellyfish that stung me. If it were a whale, I would faint just because of its humongous size.

A whale in the air! Down by the bay where the watermelon grow

Back to my home

I dare not go

For if do

My mother will say

“Did you ever see a whale

in the air sail”

Down by the bay :)

I switched browers and it’s at least enabling me to paste a pic into an email client. I have been cutting and pasting pics for almost 20 years; it’s always worked. I did some research and it seems some browsers are causing problems with pic pasting.

I will try it again - if not, I will post the link. The picture of this whale is truly riveting. (Riveting - engrossing; fascinating)

Thanks dear Buttafly and Parion. You’re very sweet. I have done copy/paste before, but assumed it didn’t work on this forum. I am glad to know it does.

OK. I wanted to share this photo with everyone. It is from National Geographic and is awe-inspiring. It’s a picture of a right whale. The photographer said the whale was not aggressive, just curious. What an amazing encounter this man had. One of my dreams is to swim with dolphins. To me, they are some of the most brilliant and spriritual creatures that exist. If I become brave and have the chance, I think I would go down in a shark cage. Sea life has always fascinated me.

Hope you all like this!

By the way, can someone help me with how to post a pic? I know how to click on insert image. Then I just copy the web address of the pic, put it in the space, and that’s it? I tried it and it didn’t work.

Also, what does “anchor” mean in terms of this site?

Thanks for your help!

Julito – That sounds absolutley WONDERFUL!!!

I love your story. I am sure they will never forget it either, and it will be one of their magical moments.

Keep paying it forward!

Heather

Paying it forward means that when something good happens to you, you then keep the momentum going by doing something good for someone else. Instead of paying something “back” to someone, you are actually paying it “forward” on to the next person. And hopefully, they will do the same thing for someone else, and kindness keeps replicating. Pretty cool idea, huh? If we could all live this way, there’d be more happiness in the world.

One of the most magical moments in my life was in india. One of my friends  and I were walking around a poor neighborhood in Calcuta , when we came across a soccer  field  and a bunch of the most destitute kids  I had ever seen ,We started  playing soccer with them and  teaching   a few words in English  about the rules to play the game. The magic moment is that it was as though  I was also a a kid  among them. They were so poor but what wonderful smiles  and shining eyes  in their faces .For a  moment  the time  stopped  ,I was  another innocent kid.

As I was reading everyone’s comments,comething occured to me…

Magical places are everywhere. Sure, it may not be in my budget to see the places I may idealize; however, I am lucky to see the beauty of life exactly where I am.

Looking back throughout my 40 years, I remember these particular places as magical:

1. While I was a student at Johns Hopkins University (when I was 18), I would take the bus to the waterfront in Baltmore. How lucky I was to have the National Aquarium at my fingertips! I would spend hours there, observing the penguins waddling through their villages made of ice, or the giant “monsters of the deep” – the sharks and whales gliding through the water, lost in their own surreal world. What a joy is was to be able to see these magnificent creatures closely.

Years before, I had been able to go on a boat and go whale watching near Cape Cod, MA. All of us got soaked by the water that sprayed from the whales’ playful acrobatics. Some of these whales were the size of city buses and they were miracullously able to launch their bodies into the air so they’re fully out of the water. They are so playful and love to show off for the crew and passengers of the boats.

What’s important is to open our eyes to the beauty which surrounds us on a daily basis. I moved into my new apartment here in Maine last September. I didn’t know the town at all and felt a little “lost” with no friends or neighbors. I was working on my computer one night when I heard a huge BOOM from outside. My two cats jumped off the couch and ran under the bed. Again, I heard a thunderous boom, and my entire apartment lit up with bright colors of orange, purple and green. I went out on my patio and there, over the bay across from my porch, was an incredible fireworks’ display. The town was putting on the fireworks as a gift to the townspeople. I stood by myself and watched the fireworks for 20 minutes, right up until the finale – which was so beautiful and loud and colorful. I felt so lucky to be able to observe such beauty from my own house.

We must remember this:

Beauty is where we find it!!

Sincerely,

Heather

I am planning to go to Europe this year, maybe in September, with a friend of mine. I think it would be a great trip, we will see different countries with their own cultures, old architecture. There will be so many new impressions, the whole new experience, I’ve never been in the countries we are to go.
