Tanis:  So, when do you come back?

Mark:  I come back, Monday at about nine thirty p.m.

Tanis:  Okay. What airline are you on sweetie?

Mark:  Alaska.

Tanis:  Okay. Let’s check if your flight’s on time. You want to check in and I’ll look at the flight?

John:  Sure.

Tanis:  You’re going to San Francisco right?

Mark:  Yeah. Direct to San Francisco.

Attendant:  Where are you heading to?

Mark:  San Fran…

Attendant:  Electronic check in?

Mark:  Yes.

Attendant:  Are you checking any bags?

Mark:  No.

Attendant:  You guys have your itinerary or is it just you?

Tanis:  It’s just him.

Attendant:  Okay. So you can either stand in line and check yourself in, or you can go right out to the gate.

Mark:  Oh, I can just go straight to the gate? Okay, thanks.

Tanis:  All right. I’m glad you can go straight to the gate, but look; here’s the, here’s the line. Right here.

Mark:  Doesn’t Alaska fly out of E?

Tanis:  I thought you were at C5 when I looked on the thing. You go at, uh, five twenty-one?

Mark:  No, five o’clock.

Tanis:  There was none. Let’s look here. Five oh five for Burbank?

Mark:  Five o’clock. C 11.

Tanis:  C 11 okay. Okay, so you come back on Monday?

Mark:  Yeah, Monday at nine thirty.

Tanis:  Okay.

Discussion

This trip to the airport really stressed me out. There was some confusion during the conversation for Mark and I. We didn’t know what gate he was flying out of, and we waited in line for the counter because we didn’t know that he could check in directly at the gate! You can tell by my tone of voice and by the way I repeat myself that I am feeling nervous.
