Being up to date on what is going on in the field you are aiming for is a good start. That can be done by educating yourself continuously and networking. And when going to an interview, try and let these things show through. You should also become familiar with the history of the company or business you´re trying for a job with. If you cannot land a job straight away because most of the openings demand previous experience, try to do an internship to back you up.

Hi all!

An expression that is often used (in America—I am not sure if it’s used anywhere else) to describe someone who is actively seeking a job (and not just emailing and waiting) is “pounding the pavement.” When someone is pounding the pavement, they are actually going in person to visit businesses in order to speak to someone and deliver their resume. This expression also connotes that someone is putting in a serious effort to gain employment.

Usage:

Mom: Why haven’t you gotten a job for the summer? You need to save some money for your books for college, and you know how expensive they are.

Jack: Mom, I’m seriously pounding the pavement. In fact, I’m about to drop off 50 resumes today.

Mom: Good! I hope you can speak to someone in person. Emailing and calling is not enough. There is huge competition for jobs right now!

Hope you like this one!

That’s absolutely true to be able to get a satisfactory job  you have to wider your connections and always interact with people in events whether informal or formal. It is hard sometimes to do that, but here where people can see how much you want to succeed in your professional life, then you might be a potential employee.
