These days, it’s hard to find time to spend in the great outdoors. Most people have to work or go to school inside of a building. But sometimes, one needs to leave the city and breathe some fresh air. Camping is a great way to get away from all the noise of daily life.

One of the best things about camping is that one can do it anywhere. For people who like the beach, one can simply set up a tent right on the sand. Some people like the mountains more and might even camp in the snow. Many people like camping because it is easier to see the stars away from city lights. Camping lets people take a break from normal life.

Jessica is excited to camp with her friends this summer. But does Julie like camping? Find out more in today’s English lesson about sleeping outside.

Jessica:  So, Julie…

Julie:  Yes?

Jessica:  I just started to get all of my plans together to go camping this summer. And I am so excited to get back outdoors, and watch the sunset and the sunrise when it’s not freezing cold outside.

Julie:  Do you camp a lot?

Jessica:  I do. Not as much as I would like to, but I do a big camping trip every year. And all of our friends get together with our camping gear, and our backpacks and sleeping bags. It’s wonderful.

Julie:  Do you go the whole nine yards and build a campfire and roast s’mores and all that?

Jessica:   Absolutely. I don’t think you can go camping without s’mores. But until then I’ve just been hiking, and trying to enjoy nature without the overnight camping aspect. Do you like to go camping?

Julie:  I love camping. I camp at every opportunity that I have. But it’s hard because I work several jobs and it’s hard to carve out that time to get outside. But I do love it. It’s very therapeutic.

Jessica is planning on going camping this summer. Every year, she and her friends like to get their sleeping bags and find somewhere new to sleep outside. She likes to eat s’mores, and thinks that no camping trip is complete without them.

Julie is sad she doesn’t have much time for camping. She says it is hard to work multiple jobs and still be able to camp. She finds camping therapeutic, and goes whenever she can.

Do you like camping? Where is your favorite place to go?

2 ola33: Have you been to Canada (or do you live there now, I can’t understand your sentence)? My friend has been lived near Vancouver for a year and says it’s a perfect place for those who like nature. Is Canada really worth visiting?

Dear Anja, as you have clearly surmised i was purportly going over the top mentioning a five star hotel to sleep in. However, i can see your predicament when it comes to have to share your sleeping bag with whatever bugs or insect that surreptitiously got into the tent.A story… we were visiting a National Park in US when one of the party shoot out” i need a bathroom, jejejeje, we were in the middle of nowhere, after some search we could found a rustic wooden cabin with a sign on it “rest room” I peeked inside, do i need to go into details? , it was awful, a hole, no toilet paper, forget flush and clean water to wash your hands . i looked at my friend and said … lady, you go first.  !!

@ Julito..hehe! The Hilton sounds like a pretty glamorous backup of a hotel :) For me there can be a lot less cash involved, that’s for sure! As long as they can guarantee that I won’t wake up with an implanted nest of creepy-crawlies in my ear cavity… I’ll settle for any bedding as long as it’s inside a room where I can shut a door :)

Camping is great! I miss it a lot. I give up the most luxury hotel for a nice rough and tough trip. When I’ m in nature, it does wonders to me.

The mere thought of sleeping where the bugs crawl makes me shudder. Blow-up mattresses that make squeaky noises and having to share smelly bathrooms are so far from being therapeutic. Don’t get me wrong, like Shoba I do love the great outdoors, I am actually a pretty outdoorsy kinda person…but sleeping where I constantly had to set my antenna alarm about looking out for insect/spider infested spots. Yikes! No thanks!

So for the rest of you who like to go camping, maybe I could spend the days with you at the campground and hop to the hotel, yes – the one with clean sheets and my own bathroom, at night ;)

Camping helps us to unwind from the hustle and bustle of city life and gives renewed energy.

But my phobia of insects and reptiles is so strong that I wouldn’t dream of going for overnight campings. I really don’t want to find a snake or something sharing my sleeping bag or wake up in the middle of the night and catch a grizzly bear staring into my face.

We usually rent a quiet cottage in the countryside once in a while and try to connect with the nature by indulging in activities such as bird watching, fishing and hiking.

I like going out camping. What could be more therapeutic than a few days  outside the city ,camping in the wilderness  with  a river or creek at your side , with no newspapers , internet and nothing to do except eating s`mores, drinking coffee and gathering wood to light a bonfire at night.

To see in wonder uncountables  flickering stars as well as the milky way  above us,, and as luck would have it , a shooting star. all these make us to think how small in comparission we are in this woundrous universe.
