Joe:
Hey Miguel, what did you do this weekend?
Migs:
Well, I didn’t have a very exciting weekend, but I did
go see this movie called 15 Minutes.
Joe:
Oh yeah. Is that that new movie with Robert DeNiro?
Migs:
Yeah. It’s got DeNiro and Ed Burns, and uh, that
pretty much it for famous people, but it’s kind of a weird movie ‘cause it’s about these murderers who film their crime and then try to make a lot of money off of it.
Joe:
Uh huh.
Migs:
So, the plot is kinda weird ‘cause there’s all this killing going on and then it’s about how Americans kinda celebrate that kinda violence and stuff.
Joe:
Oh… that’s… wow. Well, what did you think about the movie?
Migs:
Well, it wasn’t that good. I mean it had sort of an interesting idea behind it – sort of trying to criticize the fact that we like that violence so much. But, it wasn’t very well done. It was just not filmed artfully, if you know what I mean.
Joe:
Well if it wasn’t filmed… if it wasn’t done well, was there any good points about the movie at all?
Migs:
That’s a good question. I think just the idea that…that we need to think about how much we celebrate violence is probably an important one, but in general, as a movie, it wasn’t a great movie.

DISCUSSION
Going to a bad movie is always disappointing. But I don’t think 15
Minutes was a waste of time. I like movies that make me think, and
I’ve thought about this one a lot since I walked out of the theater.
Have you seen 15 Minutes? Did you like it? Are you a Robert DeNiro
fan? Let us know! Come to the “Movie Madness” message board.
