John:   I saw a good movie this weekend.

Tanis:   What was it about?

John:   It was About a Boy.

Tanis:  Aaahhh! Good play on words, John!

John:   Yeah, that was actually the title, you know?

Tanis:   I have heard of the film.

John:  Are you a Hugh Grant fan?

Tanis:   Well…I think Hugh Grant’s pretty cool, but he’s always kind of the bumbling Englishman in his vaguely sexy, tousled way, and it kind of gets old after a while. But, was he like that in this movie?

John:   No. In this one he’s actually a single guy who doesn’t have a job, who’s really cool. And, uh, I went with my sister and she just fell in love with him, watching him in this role.

Tanis:  Hmmm, single guy without a job. He sounds like a winner.

John:   It’s definitely that cool factor that my sister liked about him.

Tanis:   I have to admit, I always think I will be able to resist his charm, and I always leave any movie of his going “I love Hugh Grant!”

John:   So anyway, the story is that he’s a single guy that doesn’t want any committment or any family, and he ends up meeting a young boy who changes his perception on life, and kind of shows him, shows him what’s, what’s valuable and what isn’t, and, uh, kind of re-shapes how he wants to live his life.

Tanis:   Oh. That sounds really good. I’m excited to see this movie.

Discussion

Though Tanis tries to avoid being beguiled by Hugh Grant, he usually seems to be able to win her over. Judging by John’s description of the film and his sister’s reaction, it looks like Tanis really has her work cut out for her this time with About a Boy.
Do good looks and an English accent win you over, too? Tell us about it on the Movie Madness board!
See you next week-
Brett
