Nedra: Uh, Zach, did you see Goldfinger this weekend?
Zach: Yeah. Well, actually I saw Goldmember. Goldfinger was an old James Bond movie.
Nedra: Oh that’s right. So Goldmember, is this the Austin Powers’ movie?
Zach: Yeah, It’s, it’s kinda a spoof on the spy movies. It’s the third in the series. Um, yeah it was Austin Powers, Mike Meyers, the comedian who plays Austin Powers.
Nedra: So, I don’t know. I don’t know if it sounds that funny? Um, did you really laugh a lot?
Zach: I think I laughed about five times. So overall the movie was pretty boring, but there was some really good bathroom humor, every once in a while, that just, it made everybody laugh out loud.
Nedra: Um, I imagine Goldmember was a new person. Like a new caricature for Mike Meyers.
Zach: Yeah, I guess it was Mike Meyers. It, it looked a lot different than the other characters I can tell are Mike Meyers, but this one looked
different. Yeah, it was pretty funny.Nedra: So he wore a lot of makeup. You really couldn’t tell it was him.
Zach: Yeah I had no idea. Um, yeah, he wore a lot of makeup.
Nedra: Was, ok, I heard that Brittany Spears was in the movie?
Zach: Yeah, she had a cameo. There were actually quite a few cameos, um, that was one of the better parts of the movie. Um, one of the things I didn’t like about it was Brittany Spears and all these other people brought this, all these advertisements into the movie so you saw a lot of product placement, like ya know Heinekin bottle here, Starbucks cup over there, it’s kinda distracting.
Nedra: Yeah that would be too much for me too.
Zach: Yeah overall, I wouldn’t reccommend it.

Discussion
Zach really likes comedies, but it sounds like Goldmember was a disappointment for him. Mike Meyer’s is a talented comedian, but he keeps recycling the Austin Powers and Dr. Evil and repeats the same ideas in every movie. I think I prefer Mike Meyer in movies like So I Married an Axe Murderer or Shrek instead of Austin Powers.
Have you seen all of the Austin Power movies? Did you love or hate them? Explain why on the Movie Madness message board right now!
See ya next week,
Nedra
