Hi! My name is Irina. I’m from Russia. I’m writing my degree work. Could you help me? Could you answer several questions?
1) Do you think that “Good morning”/ “Good night” is a wish?
2) Do you often use the full structure of your wish? (I wish you…)
3) Do you think that the imprecation is the wish of the evil?
4) Which is the most popular wish to anyone in your opinion?
Thanks’ for you help! Please, write your full name, your age and your city!

Hi Irina; you sent me a friend request on EBaby, and I thought I'd write and let you know about your questions - I couldn't find your profile!

1) Do you think that “Good morning”/ “Good night” is a wish? INdeed, 'Good night' IS a wish - just that, you are wishing the other person a good night. Afriendlier and mor ekind way to say goodbye at that time of day.

 2) Do you often use the full structure of your wish? (I wish you…) No. No-one says 'I wish you good night' - it is quite negative. It is very similar to the now archaic 'I bid you good day' (meaning goodbye) or 'I bid you good night', both of which express some annoyance or negative feelings towards the recipient.

3) Do you think that the imprecation is the wish of the evil? Apart from my answer in 2), no, not EVIL - though in the way it can be said in 2), it can be negative - negative and evil being very different things.

4) Which is the most popular wish to anyone in your opinion? Thanks’ for you help! Please, write your full name, your age and your city!Good morning, good afternoon, are both just greetings; good bye is nothing special, just a parting statement. Good night IS a wish AND a parting statement, Good LUCK is definitely a wish. Good night and good luck are probably the most popular.

 I hope that helps you!

Ian.
