‘Domradio’ says that Germany’s children hospices urgently need many more nurses. Or else the few nurses for children hospices we already have will be working themselves to death with the heavy workload and constant working overtime they have to endure. Also foreign workers with less than perfect knowledge of the German language would be welcome – as long as they are qualified for work as a hospice nurse.

‘Domradio’ says that now the German ‘Bundesrat’ made a new law according to which as off march 2020 already attempted cybergrooming – contacting children online to win child-pornographic material or to meet them to have sex – is punishable. So far cybergrooming was punishable in Germany only if succeeded. If for example you contacted a child and succeeded in meeting it offline for sex or to gain pornographic material, then this was a crime and the sentence would be many years in jail. However if for example you attempted to contact a child for the same reasons, but the person you contacted turned out not to be a child, but another adult online with a fake account, then there was nothing the police could do. Now thanks to this law both scenarios would be punishable.

‘Suedwestpresse’ says that considering the first Russian-African summit in Sotschi (40 heads of states from African countries were invited) Putin promised to double Russia’s trade with Africa within the four years to come. Objects of interest would be oil-, gas-, and diamond resources: Hopes other than that – from a Russian point of view – involve potential future orders from African companies that will want to build a power plant, potential future African customers who would order more Russian firearms and African communities and institutions that may want to become more digitalized and networked.

While most German news shows on the radio and the TV and most German newspapers seem to have forgotten about Syria, ‘Unicef’ still advertises aid-projects in Syria. They say that violence in northeast Syria is still putting the lives of thousands of already vulnerable children at imminent risk of displacement, injury, or death.
At least four children have been killed and nearly 70,000 have been forced to flee their homes which means they now live as refugees – probably in a refugee camp or on the street. Many affected families however are taking shelter in schools that currently are out of order and buildings that are still under construction. Either way they have no access to proper care and supplies.
Health facilities and vehicles have been attacked and a water station has been caught in the cross-fire, leaving at least 400,000 people in the area without access to clean, safe drinking water.
