How to understand what americans talking about?

Hi evrybody,

I'm a new resident in the usa, and i found a great difficult with american accent, i don't understand what americans spoken talking about.

My english language level is too modest, I can read text and understand 70% of words and sentences, My problem is american accent, my question is how can i understand american english ? and also speak like an  american ?

sorry for my bad english, I'm still in the begenning of the road.

     I think the best way to understand Americans, since you're in the US at the moment, is to be with these guys. Talk to them… Listen to them…Mingle with these people. This might seem difficult at first but you'll soon get used to the way they talk and kind of language they use.

     As we know, real conversation and conversations in movies are far too different. So if you want to get along with real people, you've got to do it at once. You'll find out soon, they're not really hard to talk to.

Americans speak so fast and they usually say words by wrong way(not as in books), and they sometimes don't say any sounds, I think it is the reason why we can't understand them. It is so easy to speak with people from Canada, their english is understandable for me)

Do not to be shy to say what you want to say loudly,and go to the public place to talk with others.I think your will be used to speaking American English

Zhana, Americans only speak so fast because maybe you speak slowly in your country… OR you're still quite slow with your English.

American's speaking pace actually vary from one to another. I've met Americans who actually speak slowly, especially old ones and highly educated ones. I've met one who speaks like a machine gun,hehe… He's almost completely unintelligible. But when I took time talking with him, his English tends to slow down. Maybe because I adapted to his pace or he deliberately slowed it down for me…hehehe

my opinion is (dont say:walking,running,shuting…etc)

say them as (walken,runnin,shutten) and i advice you when you listen to music try to find the lyric of it and sing with the singer !!
