Idomatic expressions are accepted as part of simple,every day speech.Experienced teachers of English have long recognized their importance as a means of adding grace and exactness to speech and writing.

I will try to rewrite some of them here.

we have looked all over for you.

As you see the adverb of place(all over) placed between the verb and the prepositional particle.it is an example of an idiom seprated by an adverb.
