Please help me guess this word

Hello,

        How are you?

Could you please help me guess this word I've heard from a conversation between British husband and American wife. The wife was complaining that she could not get along well with British culture as she was not familiar with that and she might think that American one was somewhat better. From one sentence, the husband said "You are always getting at me with what you have decided to be a British (calchitrate)". The word in the parenthesis is the one that I could not catch very well but it was pronounced something like that. I tried to look up in the dictionary but I cannot. I would appreciate if you can help me with.

         Please have a nice day.

Hmmm… I'm not sure what that word might mean. Could he have been talking about a British "character trait"? That means something that is seen as typically British.

Let me know if you think that might be the word! It's a fun mystery. Cool
