Hello, teacher,

How are you? May I ask what this sentence means; "Your favorite people are there. Snake Eyes is there and whatnot. " This sentence is from the lesson G.I. Joe; Rise of Cobra. And from the lesson "staycation", could you please give me some more examples how to use "might as well". Thank you very much and please have a nice weekend.

Hi! In the first sentence, Mason is telling Dale that all the familiar G.I. Joe characters (from the old toys and cartoon) are also in the movie. Snake Eyes is the name of one of these characters, and "and whatnot" basically means "etcetera."

The expression "might as well" basically means there's no reason not to do something. We often follow it with a verb, as in, "We might as well share a taxi to the airport, since our flights leave around the same time," or, "You might as well get some reading done on the train."

We also sometimes use the expression in response to a question about our plans. For example:

Q: "Are you going to go to Mason's party this weekend?"

A: Might as well. I don't have anything better to do.

I hope that answers your questions! You have a great weekend, too.

Amy
