have to take it ever again

     In the lesson "Channing Fyre". There are these sentences; 

I got one good grade on a test and I think that was my breakthrough for that. It actually, you know, it got me a little interested. But too bad it was the final and I never had to take it ever again. 

        What does "I never had to take it ever again." mean?  Thank you very much. 

Hi! Channing means that he never had to take another math class again. This was his last class and the last math test he ever had to take.
