About the subway

Hi,

    If I would like to ask about the time the first subway begins and the last subway available each day, can I ask something like this;

        What time will the first subway start on Saturday morning?

        What time will be the last subway on Saturday evening?

       In addition, can we also use "lay over" with subway? For example: You may have to get on the subway number three, then lay over at the 42th street station and get on the subway number five to the Canal street station. As I have known, we can use "lay over" with the plane.

       Thank you very much and please have a nice week.

Hi! Great questions.

For your first question, the best thing to say is "What time does the subway start running?" and "What time does the subway stop running?" OR "When is the first/last train of the day?"

For your second question, you should use the word "transfer," as in, "You have to get off the #3 at the 42nd street station and transfer to the #5."

Thanks!
