Hi! Could you please help me with the following questions:


1) Is the adjective “hip” (in the meaning of cool, in fashion) used with regard to only clothes and accessories or can it be used with regard to anything? For example, can we say that iPads are hip, traveling to other countries is hip etc?


2) You used the word “frames” in the plural in the lesson. But I know that it is usually used in the the singular, the frame of the glasses. What meaning does it have in the plural?


3) Amy, you said in the conversation: “people go all out when it comes to glasses”. What did you mean by “go all out”? Did you mean that they physically go out or did you mean something else?

1) “Hip” can be used to talk about almost anything: clothes, accessories, iPads, restaurants, bars, hotels…


2) “Frames” is always used in the plural, sort of like “pants” or “glasses.” We say, “I need new frames for my glasses,” not, “I need a new frame.”


3) “Go all out” means do as much as possible, go to the max. To “go all out” in terms of glasses means to get special, expensive, or elaborate frames.
