None of this amounts to the sort of pressure that will make the al-Assad regime buckle, especially when it perceives as divided both internal opposition and the international community.


What’s mean “amounts to the sort of pressure.....”?


I guess that means none type of pressure as big as this to syria and the pressure would made the regime collapse. Is that right?


Is buckle means collapse in this sentence?

Hi! Yes, “buckle” means collapse. “Amounts to the sort of pressure” here means “equals enough pressure” or “is enough pressure.” In other words, none of the pressure is enough to make the regime collapse.
