Hi, could you answer these questions please? Thanks in advance!


1-Mason says in this lesson “the school put this on”. Does “put this on” mean “organized” here? If yes, can I say, for example, the company put this free lunch on?


2- Is “rite of pasage” the same as the “milestone” with the only difference that it is a milestone related to personal life?


3-The cap is called a “mortar”? I checked the dictionary but didn’t find its meaning there.


4- Why do you have to “move the tassel to one side” when wearing a cap at graduation?


5-Marni says: “maybe we should get in on this”. Does “get in on this” means “start dealing with this”? Can we say, for example, we should get in on selling books?

1- Yes, you’ve got it right!


2- Rite of passage and milestone are synonyms, yes. Both are personal. Rites of passage are things that everyone, or most people, go through, such as graduating from high school, getting a driver’s lisence, etc.


3- Yes, mortar is right; its’ sometimes called a “mortarboard.”


4- This is part of the graduation ceremony. When you move the tassle over it shows that now you are officially a graduate.


5- You’ve got this one right, too! “Get in on” basically means “get involved with something in order to gain something.”
