Lily:  Yeah, I called someone because otherwise I would have been stranded on the highway for an indeterminable length of time.


Jeff:  Instead you were stranded for an hour and a half or however long it took.



Lily:  At least I knew.




  • What does Lily mean to say by At least I knew ? Please advise?

Lily tells Jeff that if she had not called anyone, she would have been stranded for an indeterminable length of time. Jeff responds that she was still stranded. Lily’s comment, “At least I knew” could be completed like this: “At least I knew how long I would have to wait for help to arrive.” In her opinion, the knowledge of the time required for her to wait is better than not knowing how long she would be stranded.
