The Mustangs and the Cavaliers are two examples of school mascots. A mascot is an animal or character that represent a sports team or school. A mustang is a horse. A cavalier is a type of knight, someone who would fight battles. Other common mascots include the Cowboys, the Eagles, the Braves, etc.
