Both sentences are grammatically correct.


In sentence (1), the speaker does not know Janice. He wants to be introduced to her.


In sentence (2), the speaker may or may know already know Janice. He has a reason that he wants to spend time with her, likely to talk about a subject she has information or knowledge about.
