1) One is bound in duty to help the ageing parents.


2) India is bounded in the North by the mountains.


3) You may ask someone where the ship is bound for.



I would like to know the difference between the 3 bounds used in 3 diffrent instances above and also their base forms respectively.

1) In this sentence, “bound” means expected or obligated to do something.


2) In this one, “bound” means limited by (like the border of a country).


3) In the last sentence, “bound” means going to.


As to their base forms, I’m afraid our expertise is in grammar but not linguistics. I’d recommend an internet search to find the base forms of “bound.”
