You can’t really watch the news without hearing the phrase take over. When a new president is elected, he or she takes over the government. When one company buys another, they take it over.
When you take something over, you assume control of it. You do the job someone else used to do. But it isn’t just politicians and businessmen who take things over. You can take over anything someone else was doing before you.
Mason is playing a video game and wants to get some pizza. He asks Devan to take over, so she sits down and starts playing. Dale walks up and says he would like to take over the game. When Mason comes back, he wants to take over again, but Dale won’t let him.
