Town House Galleria prepares to open in Milan, and faces controversy over its seven-star rating.
The Milanese hotel will be only the second in the world to claim a seven-star rating. For hotels hoping to lure the super-rich, 5-star luxury may no longer be enough. So in Milan this week, Europe's first seven-star hotel is about to open for business.
Well-heeled visitors to Milan's cathedral, La Scala opera house, or the elegant Galleria Vittoria Emanuele shopping arcade, will be able to rest-up at Town House Galleria.

It will have less than 30 suites, compared to over 200 in Dubai's Burj Al Arab tower, the only other seven-star hotel in the world. But backers of the Milan venture say it will be distinguished by its army of staff. Like most countries, Italy gives hotels only up to 5 stars, and Milan's top tag will be issued and controlled by a private certification company called SGS.
Despite holding an inauguration ceremony this week, the doors of Town House Galleria remain closed. And journalists, and guests, will have to wait until next year to find out whether the rating is deserved.

As for the price. If you have to ask, you probably can't afford it.
