near or near to

hello,there
Recently,we got someone from the USA who told us that people use “near to” to refer the position
Ex. The car is near to the house. Is it really grammatically correct or is it just very commonly used in daily life English.

I do not believe this is grammatically correct, but I’m afraid it is often used. “The car is near the house” would be sufficient. “close to” on the other hand is quite correct.
