the atheist buddhist and more

I recently read a letter to an atheist writer tht asked if his atheism and his following of Buudhist teachings were incompatible. it's an interesting question. Although there are some who have deified the Buddha, most do no believe him to be a god and in general, I think most Buddhists reject the idea of a divine creator. I think it would be quite easy to reconcile being an atheist and Buddhist.

What about other religions? Do you think it's possible, for example, to follow the teachings of Jesus (except for the parts where he claims to be the son of God, and such) and be, in other words, an atheist Christain? Or an atheist Muslim? I've known people who identify as Jews, but are also atheists, but their Jewish identity is more cultural/ethnic than religious.

Is it possible to take just the parts you like from a particular faith and trash the rest, or do you think you have to buy into the whole set of myths if you want to call yourself a Christian, Muslim, etc.

But if I want to know something regarding science I'll prefer to read scientic books written by scientists with professional expertise.

If I want to know something about religion I'll read religious books like the Bible or the Quran.

And if I have a good mind to have a big burst of laughter or a regretful shake of my head maybe I'll read a little bit about scientology's galactic emperor Xenu or a little bit of the Satanic Bible. Maybe I have a look at the Bibel or the Quran, too. And maybe I even read some of your postings. Your source of bizarre blah seems to be sheer inexhaustible. I really like it.

I admire darwin a lot, not just for his scientific discoveries (full credit to Wallace, as well) but because he SO riles up some of the god-beleivers. Worse than even satan in many of their minds.

I think Darwin has been discussed a lot. No doubt about his contribution.

It is also true that it is a theory but one that explained the the development correctly. Some tend to deny it outrightly without any basis or on the basis of merely subjective "faith". They don't put their religious explanation to same rigorous tests or logics as the scientific theories. It is neither expected either.

But the subjective way of explaining the reality is not confined to the religions only. Sometimes, the scientific ones too adopt the same attitude in wider field of ideologies. As, an ideology represent "a set of theories". A friend of mine, while commenting on the relevence of ideologies, said " all the ideologies fail at reality" or something like that. Now what I want to say here is that what Darwin found about Biological development also represnt some general principle of development, be it social or "ideological". All the things and phenomena develop from simple to complex and lower to higher stage. This rule of development is also applicable to human history and social systems. There is "no end to history".  To say, capitalism is not the last stage, by the way!

We learn, systems learn, failures are cured and no one can stop the course of development. Truly said, it make no difference how one opt to define the "reality".

Holy Books are evidence cauz God wrote them himself. Now, don't ask how do i know that God wrote them, cauz it is sin. You are controlled by Satan (Sometimes he is more powerful than almighty.)

I don't think that beleiving in an imaginary friend automatically gives you wisdom, nobleness and goodness.

are religious scriptures try to answer the questions that some child may ask.

I don't know that God had created the whole but I am sure that man has invented God in order to enslave the other people.

Every human that exists here has this or that religion & no religion allows rape & prostitution but every country & society we find it ,

because religion we follow is just our pseudomess, but we lack religiousness,we don't have respect for the woman.

All religions had tried to control human by controlling the act of recreation.

It is the existential act & no one has to go religious musks to aquire it.In whole of the animal kingdom, it happens by itself but in humanity it is a sin without marriage.

& every religion has made rules to regulate male/female relations,why ?

Just because of the fact that religious politicians know that human could be controlled only by creating guilt, so they have utalised this dimenssion of human as a tool to overpower & enslave & exploit.

Kefir is the name used by exploitters for the people who ignore their advices & don't permit explotation.

Otherwise they are equally creation of God whosoever it may be .
