Why Western people love sun bath??????

Why American or western people love sun bath??? I guess their skin colour is nice. In Indonesia almost every body want their skin be white. coz their skin colour is browny and dark brown.

I'm western, but as I am mediterranean I'm naturally tanned, I neither want to have sunbaths frecuently, but sometimes it is Ok for me, like now, I am much more tanned than usual (here it is summer now)
