Take a photograph

Hello, teacher,

              When we have to apply for VISA, we need our photo posted on application form. If I go to the photoshop, what should I ask? Can I ask "I would like to take a photograph for USA VISA application." ?  Then can I say " I need 12 one-and-a-half-inch photographs."? Thank you very much.

Hi! You can say "I would like to have my picture taken for my US VISA application." Your second sentence is perfect!

Yes, that's right! Passive voice is best, because the action (having the photograph taken) is more important in this case than who takes the photograph. (Also, you might not know when you ask the question who will be the one to take the picture.)
