Sorry, I resent the questions because I thought you may have missed them.

Hello, Amy. In the song of Cher “just like Jessie James”, there is a line: “You think you’ll knock me off my feet ‘til I’m flat on the floor ‘Til my heart is cryin’ Indian and I’m beggin’ for more…”. I would like to ask about the phrase crying Indian.

1- as far as I know it means “to beg for mercy”, is that right?

2- what is the origin of this phrase? What does “indian” stand here for? Is “indian” in the meaning of “from India” or in the meaning of “related to native americans”?

3-what is “cry Indian” considered in English? Is this an idiom, a slang, a collocation or what?

4- is “cry Indian” common in casual speech? When is it mainly used?

Thanks!
