Also:
give someone so much that s/he no longer appreciates it; give someone too much stuff so the s/he does not value it; impair someone’s ability to understand value by giving them too much

2. Use - Learn how the slang is used.

You can use spoil in two primary ways:
1. To describe the act of giving someone lots of nice stuff.
For example, if you like to buy nice things for your grandmother because you love her so much, you’re spoil_ing* your grandmother.
- Or –
2. To describe the act of giving too much stuff to a child, making it impossible for him to understand the value of nice stuff.
For example, if a mother bought her child every toy in the world, she would be spoiling*_ the child because he wouldn’t understand that he won’t get everything he wants for the rest of his life.
