Amanda: Ah, for me bad habits are probably things that you choose to do that aren’t healthy for you.
Logan: Mm hm.
Amanda: Or that hurt you physically. Ah, I guess the epitome of a bad habit for me would be smoking.
Logan: Mm hm.
Amanda: And, personally, I smoked on and off since I was a teenager, and I have finally quit for the longest period of time so far.
Logan: Mm hm.
Amanda: So, that was my number one bad habit.
Logan: Wow.
Amanda: And a bad habit that I hope I can help some others quit, too.
Logan: Yeah.
Amanda: That’s a good one.
Logan: I used to smoke, I mean, on weekends, especially if I go out with friends and drink and all that. I would, ah, I would smoke half a pack.
Amanda: And isn’t that crazy?
Logan: Yeah.
Amanda: Everyone knows how bad it is but you still do it.
Logan: Oh, you still do it because it’s so nonchalant, you just do it.
Amanda: And you pay money to do it.
Logan: Exactly.
Amanda: Yeah.
Logan: It’s just a habit you can’t control.
Amanda: You pay about five dollars a pack to actually do it, and to do that to your body.
Logan: You’re paying to hurt yourself.
Amanda: Paying to hurt yourself, paying to get cancer.

Bad habits come in many forms, such as grinding your teeth, smoking, overeating, thumbsucking and so on. We’ve all got our share of bad habits, and they can be extremely difficult to kick.
Here are some tips on how to get rid of a bad habit:
1. Be ready. Be truly willing and ready to change. Don’t try to quit smoking unless you really, truly are ready to quit.
2. Notice. Start noticing when you do your bad habit. Do you light up a cigarette when you’re stressed out? Do you bite your nails when you’re nervous? Pay attention to your bad habit.
3. Control. Once you’ve figured out the pattern of your bad behavior, start to control it. If you’re feeling nervous and start biting your nails, notice what you’re doing and take your finger out of your mouth.
What are your bad habits? What advice do you have for kicking bad habits?
