Anna: Hey Beth, I noticed you were out last week. Where did you go?
Beth: I went to New York. I took a late flight it was a red-eye flight.
Anna: Oh God! I hate those red-eyes! Did you like it?
Beth: I did! Actually it was the first time I have ever done that, and I would definitely recommend traveling that way!
Anna: Why? You can’t sleep… Do they even serve you food in the middle of the night?
Beth: No food! Just sleep and you get up and it’s the morning! And it’s sunny out, and you start your day fresh!
Anna: I have a hard time sleeping in those chairs! Do you have any secrets?
Beth: Not really. Well, actually it helps to have your own pillow! But I didn’t remember to bring mine unfortunately!!
Anna: Shoot! So, when you got there did you just start the day or did you have to nap when you arrived?
Beth: Oh no! Right into the New York action!
Anna: Good Lord! So you were up for, like, thirty-six hours?
Beth: Something like that! It was a long day, but it was fun once we arrived!
Anna: You’re a tough girl!

Discussion
I have taken red-eye flights many times, but it has never been easy for me to feel really rested after sleeping on a plane. If I have a choice, I typically prefer not to have to fly overnight! Listening to Beth talk, it sounds like she had a wonderful experience with her late night flight. I think it was easier for her to adjust to very little sleep because she was so excited to see her New York family and friends!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful October- come check out a new Eavesdropping lesson next week!
Your Friend,
Tanis
