Go Super to Listen Go Super!

It’s wonderful when it’s easy to get what you want. But that’s not always the case. Often, you have to do many things before you accomplish your goal and some of them may seem rather indirect. Doing those steps along the way is called jumping through hoops.

Jason wants to eat a cookie of Mason’s and Mason says he can have it. Great! All Jason has to do is grab it and start eating it, right? Wrong. Mason is going to make Jason jump through hoops first. He says Jason needs a plate and napkin. Luckily, there’s a plate and napkin in the room, so Jason doesn’t mind jumping through these hoops.

But just when Jason gets to the cookie, plate and napkin, Mason puts an actual, physical hoop in his way! Since this is EXTREME English, baby! Jason jumps through the hoop, no problem, and reaches his goal.

Can you think of a time when you had to jump through hoops to get what you wanted?
