I'm back again!

I've got another cool phrase of the day to make your English unbelievable.

I hope you get my spoken English PDF ebook series.  I think you'll really enjoy them if you haven't already checked them out.

Anyway, here is the phrase of the day:

"Take a shot in the dark"

This again is very simple and very useful.  It's used in today's world and not just some kind of old grandmother type saying.  (I love grandmothers but you know what I mean)

Basically the phrase means, "take a guess".

To help you remember, I'll try to explain it to you.  In this phrase, a "shot" is a gun shot.  If you are trying to shoot someone, which of course is not a very nice thing to do, it would be very hard to do it if there was no light.  You couldn't see what or who you were shooting at.  It would be a guess.  You would just fire the gun and hope.

So if someone says something like, "So, how old to you think he is?"

The other person could say, "I have no idea"

Then the first person could say, "Who cares, just take a shot in the dark".

This if often used for fun when you are trying to force someone to guess something.

If you haven't seen my other lessons, check out my first one and keep following if you "like" them.  The comments and the "likes" are a huge help.  Thanks guys.

I'll keep making these lessons every day so "stay tuned".  That means, pay attention.  Here is the first lesson of the free Online Spoken English Course
