What’s your favorite sport? Although some people might say swimming or running or riding a bicycle, most people will name something that involves a ball, such as soccer, basketball, volleyball, baseball, or football. Little kids and babies love balls, too. Big or little, hard or soft, round or not, balls are always a lot of fun! And anyone who has a ball is also having a good time.

In fact, that’s exactly what the expression have a ball means… having fun. Of course, you don’t have to be holding an actual ball to have a ball. You can have a ball listening to your favorite band and having a dance party with your friends. Kids might have a ball playing in the water on a hot day. Someone who works all the time might have a ball on vacation, doing absolutely nothing.

Actor Ben Savage, star of the American television show Boy Meets World, said that he and co-star Danielle Fishel are having a ball filming the new series Girl Meets World. They are enjoying the chance to play the same characters again and having fun on set.
