The latest installment in the Star Wars saga, Attack of the Clones, has been released in thousands of theaters. The much anticipated sequel has many questions around it. Will it be as good as the first, original Star Wars? Will it at least be better than the most recent The Phantom Menace? Let’s hear what Nedra has to say.

Nedra

Miguel:   What’s up with the new Star Wars flick?

Nedra:   It’s much better than the last one, let me tell you.

Miguel:   Does Jar-Jar Binks plague this one like he did the last one?

Nedra:   He only takes up about five minutes of the screen.

Miguel:   I hate Jar-Jar Binks. Do you like him?

Nedra:   Oh, I hate him too. Um, I think the audience was happy to see that he wasn’t really in it at all.

Miguel, Okay, so what’s this one called again? It’s Return of the Clones, or something?

Nedra:   Attack of the Clones.

Miguel:   What are the clones?

Nedra:   Well…I don’t want to ruin the movie for you, so I’ll let you figure it out.

Miguel:   Okay, that’s fair. Um, so what’s the difference between the last one and this one that makes this one better?

Nedra:   This is a much darker film and actually gets into more of Anakin Skywalker’s life and how he becomes Darth Vader.

Miguel:   Okay. What do you mean by “darker”?

Nedra:   Um, you don’t have Jar-Jar Binks so it’s not always a comic relief going on the whole time.

Miguel:   Okay. So does this movie actually have a plot and, like, well developed characters? ‘Cause the reason I hated the last one was there wasn’t a single, decent conversation between any of the characters.

Nedra:   Well, some of the dialogue isn’t the best, but overall the last hour will be really rewarding.

Miguel:  And the special effects, I take it, are incredible?

Nedra:   Oh yeah, that’s a given.

Discussion

It certainly sounds like Attack of the Clones is an improvement over The Phantom Menace. The dialogue has never really been the strongest suit of any of the Star Wars films, but the special effects are always top drawer. It sounds like the last hour makes this movie easily worth the price of admission, and I’m sure this will be one of the most popular movies of the year.
How do you think Attack of the Clones will measure up against the previous movies in the series? Speak your mind on the Movie Madness message board!
See you next time-
