Adam Sandler, who got his start playing goofy characters on the late-night TV show Saturday Night Live[/def], now stars in a new movie called Mr. Deeds.
Sandler’s films are known for their low-brow brand of comedy: lots of physical comedy and sight gags. Let’s hear what Zach thought about it.

1. Listen and Read - Listen to the audio and read the dialog at the same time.

Zach:  So, I saw that new, uh, Adam Sandler flick.

John:  Oh yeah, what is that, Mr. Deeds?

Zach:   Yeah, Mr. Deeds. Uh, it’s about this guy that inherits forty billion dollars from his long-lost great uncle.

John:   Was Sandler pretty funny in it?

Zach:  Yeah, he’s pretty funny, but that’s just my opinion. I think, I think Adam Sandler’s a pretty funny guy in general. Uh, most people will probably think the movie’s pretty dumb overall.

John:   I actually read some reviews and they said that it sucked!

Zach:   Yeah, and they’re probably right. But, it’s the kind of thing you can go in and just kick back, not have to worry about the outside world. It’s got a good few good laughs in there, and have a good time.

John:   So do you recommend that I see it in the theater, or should I wait until it comes out on video?

Zach:   Well, I would definitely recommend wait until it comes out on video. It’s not worth spending, whatever, eight bucks on it, right now.

With the price of admission to movie theaters in the U.S. soaring to over eight dollars per person, it makes sense to be choosy in deciding which ones to see. It sounds like you could easily wait for Mr. Deeds to come out on tape and save yourself some dough.
Have you seen any movies lately that didn’t seem worth the price of admission? Give everyone a heads-up on the Movie Madness board!
