Josh: Hey Beth, did you see any movies this weekend?
Beth: I did, I saw that new Adam Sandler film, Punch Drunk Love.
Josh: I hear it’s really different from, uh, other movies that Adam Sandler’s been in. He usually just this kooky, crazy character.
Beth: Yeah, it was totally different than I expected. Like I had heard of positive things about the film, but when I saw it it really blew me away because it’s just so different from anything else I’ve ever seen that he’s done.
Josh: Is it funny?
Beth: It’s funny and it’s sad and it’s kind of…uh, it has this dark element that really makes you think about relationships and people and it’s a, it’s just awesome. I don’t want to give it away, but you should definitely see it.
Josh: Well I’m definitely going to see it, I uh, I usually wouldn’t go to an Adam Sandler movie, but it sounds like I should check this one out.
Beth: Absolutely!

Discussion
Several famous actors in Hollywood have recently been written up for switching from their regular roles. Tom Hanks, who normally plays an upstanding character, portrayed a killer in the Road to Perdition and Tobey Maguire, who usually acts in dramatic movies, starred in the action movie Spiderman.
Like the others, it sounds like Adam Sandler breaks away from his funnyman role in Punch Drunk Love. I guess I’ll have to see the movie and decide for myself if he does a good job.
See you at the movies!
Anna
