Ola, I absolutely agree with you. What we had in our childhood gave us a glow of contentment, because we enjoyed nature with its beauty and freshness. I wish we could provide such a blissful environment for children today, as well. It appears to be a bit hard, but we can make it happen by guidance. So I am hopeful. 

Mess, our less informative childhood also had some advantages. I remember myself climbing the trees, rushing down the snowy hill, not afraid of strangers, skating until late, going home all by myself at the age of 7 when it's pitch dark. There were lots activities that used to fill our life would be considered reckless today. Life skills were prevailing.

Kids are born as graduate students.  My brother has every opportunity from computer, internet access, to educative cartoons on TV. When I was his age, I used to play outside with my friends. Computers were not popular. I used to watch Scooby Doo, Fred Flinstone, Candy Candy, Power Rangers, Ulysses, Richie Rich, Tsubasa and many others but they were not very educative, except for the story books my mother used to bring me.  

Mess, i think your younger brother is very knowledgeable in precious stones. I googled and among the numerous meanings of 'solitaire' was a singe diamond in a setting. So, his contribution to a treasure island makes sense. :)
