How do you say Goodbye?
Ok friends, in my last blog I talked about saying Hello. This time I want to talk about different ways to say goodbye. If you read the blog about “hello” you remember that I said we never use the same word (one person says “hello” the other person will say “hi” or “hey”). For “Goodbye” we can use the same words.
“Goodbye” is too formal and most native speakers don’t use it. Here is a small list of other words you can use:
Bye
Later
See ya* (later) * ya = you
(you can add later or not, but you can also use a specific time here)
See you tomorrow. OR See you next week.
Catch you later.
Talk to you later. (On the phone)
To tell people that you are ready to leave you can use the following expressions:
Well, I’m off.
I’m outta (out of) here.
I’m taking off.
I’m heading out. (to head out means to leave)
Example dialogue:
A: Well, I’m off.
B: Oh! Ok, See you tomorrow.
A: Later
B: Later
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
A: Ok guys, I’m outta here.
B: See ya
C: Later
A: Bye
