Definition

1. Definition - Study the definition.

going crazy; going nuts

2. Use - Learn how the slang is used.

Kirsten Dunst is describing the long hours she worked when she was making the movie Marie Antoinette. Acting for such long periods of time, she felt like she was losing her mind. She means that as she did all the scenes and had to portray certain emotions, she started to feel a little crazy.

Many things in life can make you feel like you’re losing your mind, like when you are tired or stressed, or when you forget things you feel like you shouldn’t.

If you are extremely busy, doing several things at once, with many people expecting things from you, it can be overwhelming. You might feel like you’re losing your mind. You could say, “When I get off work tonight, I have to write two papers. But I stayed up all night last night to study for a test. I’m so tired, I feel like I’m losing my mind.”

If you make silly mistakes, like forgetting your boyfriend’s phone number or pouring your cereal into your coffee cup, you can say, “I feel like I’m losing my mind.”

Examples

1. Examples - Hear some example sentences.

“When I can’t remember somebody’s name, I feel like I’m losing my mind.”

“Didn’t I just see you at the mall or am I losing my mind?”

“Don’t you remember calling me last night? Are you losing your mind?”
