Sting is known all over the world and is one of the brightest stars in music. What some people tend to forget is that he used to be a part of one of the best bands in history. The Police, which was made up of Andy Summers on guitar, Stewart Copeland on drums and Sting on bass and vocals, was the biggest rock band in the world from 1978-1983.
The Police broke up after releasing just 5 albums, but every one of them was great. Each featured several hit singles and a few timeless classics. Sting’s unusual and remarkable voice, as well as his unique songwriting made listening to The Police an extraordinary experience.

Synchronicity was The Police’s final album, and the album that yielded their greatest success. It was #1 on the charts for 17 weeks. A genuine classic, Synchronicity featured some of the band’s most famous songs, including “King of Pain,” “Wrapped Around Your Finger” and the wondrous “Every Breath You Take.”
“Every Breath You Take” is a simple song lyrically and musically, but it’s packed with so much emotion and pain that it’s impossible not to feel something while listening to it.
Check out some of the lyrics:
Every breath you take
And every move you make
Every bond you break, every step you take
I’ll be watching you
Every single day
And every word you say
Every game you play, every night you stay
I’ll be watching you

Sting wrote “Every Breath You Take” about his ex-wife. After she left him, he couldn’t get over her, and the song shows how haunted and overwhelmed he was at the time.

Discussion

I love The Police. They made so much great music in such a short time. I’ve had several of their albums since the 80’s and I’m still listening to them regularly. Synchronicity is definitely one of my favorites of all time. My favorite Police song is “Tea In The Sahara.” I’m not sure why I like it so much, but I do know that every time I listen to it, I feel good.
Although all the original Police albums are great, you can also get all their best songs on one album if you prefer. Every Breath You Take: The Classics is the latest greatest hits album from the band and it features most of their biggest hits.
Rock on,
Migs
