Welcome to Stare Week! This week, we’re going to talk about a bunch of things that have to do with staring. To start with, we’re going to talk about someone who makes us want to stare, for a couple of reasons.
The first reason is that she’s so cute. The second is that she was caught lip-synching on national TV last week. Because of that, we’re all staring at her to see if we can see her earpiece prompting her when and what to sing.
Dialog

John: Hey, dude. Did you catch Saturday Night Live[/def] this weekend?
Derek: No, but I heard about it. And I don’t know anybody that hasn’t heard about it.
John: Are you talking about the Ashlee Simpson debacle?
Derek: Ah, yes, I am in fact.
John: Yeah. What happened with that? I, I caught just the end of it. But it looked like she, she got up to sing and the music started and her voice started coming out but the microphone wasn’t up to her mouth yet.
Derek: Yeah. So she followed along the lines of Milli Vanilli[/def] and started lip-synching I guess.
John: But she wasn’t actually lip-synching. It was, the music started before she did, right?
Derek: Right. So she did a little dance and left the stage.
John: That must’ve been so embarrassing. It’s on the news now every day. And now everyone’s asking the question, ya know, “how many of our pop singers are just lip-synching their music.” What do you think?
Derek: I dunno. I assume that there are a few that are lip-synching.
John: Well, if everyone’s lip-synching, we should just start our own band.
Derek: I think we should.
John: What would we call it?
