Happy Monday! Today, we are going to focus on some hip, new rock and roll. When I think about rock and roll, I usually think about a bunch of guys rocking out on stage, playing really loudly and acting kind of crazily.
For some reason, there aren’t that many girl rock bands out there. Some bands have a token girl, but most are all male. This lesson is about a rock and roll girl band that’s really making it big!
Dialog

Senta |
Senta: Hey, Steph. What’s up?
Steph: Not much. I just read about The Donnas in the newspaper.
Senta: The Donnas?
Steph: Yeah. It’s this rock and roll girl band.
Senta: Oh really? Are they any good?
Steph: They’re pretty good. Yeah. Actually, the girl guitarist, she rocks. She really, uh, plays that thing like crazy.
Senta: So, she can actually play?
Steph: Yeah. All of them are excellent musicians. And they’ve been around for a while. They played in Portland last month and now they’re playing in New York at fashion shows and they’re getting some rave reviews.
Senta: Oh really? Did they play with anybody famous on tour?
Steph: Not that I know of. Um, I think that they’re headlining, and so they have smaller local acts that come and open for them. So they don’t really play with other famous people.
Senta: So they’re already that big that they get to headline, huh?
Steph: Yeah. They made it big really fast.

Is rock and roll popular where you live? Is it mostly girls or guys who play it? Here in America, it is getting really popular to play music, even for girls.
It’s really great to get together, let loose and rock out for a while every week at band practice.
It’s even more fabulous when you get to play gigs! We need more bands like The Donnas!
