Steph: Hey Derek, what do you know about Bright Eyes? A friend of mine is gonna go see him play.
Derek: Oh really? I just heard him actually for the first time yesterday. But I’ve heard of him quite often.
Steph: What did you think of his music? I heard it’s kind of singer-songwritery.
Derek: It’s, uh, very singer-songwritery. It’s a little bit sad music, but it’s pretty interesting.
Steph: Yeah. Ya know, he’s been playing for a really long time. When he was 14, he was in a band called Commander Venus. Have you heard of them?
Derek: Ya know, I’ve never heard of that band.
Steph: I bet it was just a local band from, isn’t he from Nebraska?
Derek: Yeah. He’s from Omaha and he lives in New York now.
Steph: Of course. That’s where all the big rock stars live.
Derek: That’s where they gotta go.
Steph: I guess so.

Discussion
Bright Eyes is a really great artist. He is relatively young, but his music speaks to everyone.
His songs are really about things that everyone can relate to, like love and other common feelings.
It’s important to have music around that you can relate to because you feel connected to others that way.
