50 Cent’s life has been full of violence. He has been shot nine times in his life. He was once shot in the face and pieces of the bullet went into his tongue, teeth and throat, which is why he has such a unique voice. Now, he wears a bulletproof vest everywhere he goes.
Listen to John and I talk about 50 Cent’s new movie and soundtrack Get Rich or Die Trying.

John: So, you catch that new 50 Cent movie?
Dave: I haven’t seen it, but all the controversy surrounding the billboards.
John: What’s up with the billboard?
Dave: A billboard had, ah, an image of 50 Cent with a gun in one hand and a microphone in the other. People said it was promoting gun violence.
John: Wow. Well, he’s kind of, you know, a hustler from the background of street life. So he’s got to have that image, you know, where he has a gun and he’s tough.
Dave: Yeah. His response was, you know, the movie Mr. and Mrs. Smith came out and that image had people with guns on it as well, so…
John: That’s a really good point.
Dave: Yeah.
John: That’s interesting.
Dave: It is. He’s really shifted gears though here now, going from music to movies. Kind of like Eminem. Eminem was really successful doing it. I wonder if he’ll be equally successful.
John: Yeah, did you see that movie 8 Mile, with Eminem?
Dave: I did. I liked it. I really liked it.
John: I thought he did a really good job.
Dave: Yeah.
John: Hopefully, he’ll have the same kind of success.
Dave: Yeah, keep his eyes on the prize and…
John: Definitely!
Dave: ...and try and do it.
