John:  I can’t believe the election this year is so close.

Migs:  I really hope Gore pulls it out.

John:  I know, it would be nice if he won, but Bush still has a little bit of a lead.

Migs:  I can’t believe people actually voted for Bush. I can’t stand that guy.

John:  I can see where they’re coming from. I mean, he is going to give people a lot of money back.

Migs:  Yeah, I guess that tax cut can make a difference for rich people, but what about poor people and the middle class?

John:  Well, he says there are some tax cuts for middle class too, but as far as policies go, I think Gore is a much better candidate.

Migs:  I think he’s quite a bit smarter. Bush doesn’t impress me with his intellect.

John:  If only Gore could look a little bit more alive in the debates and on TV. I think he would have done a lot better.

Migs:  Yeah, Gore’s pretty wooden.

John:  We’ll have to see what happens. I guess they’re going to finish counting votes on Thursday.

Migs:  We’ll see.

Discussion

Almost everyone in the USA is interested in the election. The President is one of the most powerful people in the world, and it’a very important that he is qualified for the job. Migs obviously thinks George Bush isn’t qualified. Both John and Migs think Gore would be a better President, but some other people in the US don’t think so. That’s what makes the election so exciting. Do you have any questions about the Presidential election? Do you like Gore or Bush? Please visit the “Life Goes On” message board and let us know. Have a good day, and wherever you are VOTE!!!!!—Migs
