Hi Friends!
Everyone loves surprise parties, but they’re not always easy to arrange. It’s hard to inform all of a person’s friends and family about a special event, but keep it a secret from the person. Everyone has to be very careful about what they say until the party actually happens.
John recently threw a big surprise party for one of his friends. Listen to his conversation with Zach to learn all about it.

Zach: Hey John, how did it go this weekend?
John: Oh, you mean the surprise party?
Zach: Yeah! I’m really curious to hear how everything went.
John: Well I was kinda stressed out ahead of time, you know, I didn’t know who was going to show up, and if I could keep the secret, but, from my friend, but it all worked out really well.
Zach: So, did you keep the secret? Did anyone let the news leak?
John: No, actually, you know, I brought, I brought my friend in to the place where the party was gonna be and she had no idea that it was gonna happen, so we walked up the stairs and we turned into the room and there were 25 people, so she was stoked.
Zach: You mean she had no idea at all that anything was going on?
John: No. She had no idea. You know, all of her friends and her family kept their, their, their lips sealed about it, and so it worked out really well. She was super surprised and, and really happy afterwards.
Zach: Man, that takes a lot of willpower. I think if, if I’d run into her at some point, I don’t know what I would have said.
John: There were a lot of times where it almost slipped out of my mouth, but, you know, I don’t know how I did it, but I was able to keep it secret for about three weeks.

I went to the surprise party, and I agree with John – it was great! Everyone at the party was excited about celebrating John’s friend’s birthday, and even more excited about surprising her. When she showed up at the party and we all yelled “Surprise!” the look on her face was classic.
Have a great week!
