Hello!
John travels for business a lot, but lucky for him, he usually has time to have some fun while he’s away from home. He recently went down to Los Angeles for a few days. He has a friend who lives down there, so he had a host to show him around.

Miguel:  So, did anything exciting happen when you were down in L.A.?

John:  It was pretty mellow. There was only one night where we went out. We, we hit Sunset Strip[/def]. It was pretty cool.

Miguel:  Did you go to bars or clubs, or what kind of places did you…

John:  Well, you know, we didn’t get down there until about 11:00 and we hit this one place called Montmartre and, uh, there was this long line outside and we sat in that line for almost an hour and a half.

Miguel:  An hour and a half! What, what made you wanna go there? What made it worth it to wait in line?

John:  Well, there were only about three people in front of us that entire time. Everyone else had some VIP pass or something and just kept walking right by and the bouncer kept telling us we were gonna be next, but we never were. And then we got so frustrated we said we just had to stay there until the end.

Miguel:  That’s crazy. So, whatta ya have to do to be a VIP? Were there like celebrities there, or what?

John:  Well, no one that I recognized, but they were, people were on some kind of list. You know, next time I gotta figure out how to get on that list. But, it wasn’t that bad. If you’re standing right on the street there’s a lot of people watching you can do. All the, all the people cruising by in their cars and the people on the street. It’s a pretty crazy scene.

Miguel:  So, did you ever actually make it in?

John:  Yeah, we made it in and had one drink and, and took off and went to bed.

Discussion

It sounds like John had a good time on the Sunset Strip. Although he had to wait for a long time to get into a bar, he made the best of it and enjoyed the experience. Hopefully, next time he’ll figure out how to get on that VIP list!
Have a great week!
Beth
