Hello!
Los Angeles and New York are the two biggest cities in the U.S.. The LA area has over 10 million residents, while New York has about 8 million. The two cities are also home to many major cultural and financial institutions, such as the film industry in LA and Broadway in New York.
Millions of tourists travel to each city every year. However, if you only have time to visit one city, how can you choose which one? That was the question Miguel was asking himself when he started planning an upcoming vacation. Listen in to our conversation about the topic to hear what I have to say about the decision.

Miguel: So Beth, I know you’re from the East coast, but have you ever been down to LA?
Beth: No I haven’t.
Miguel: Well, I’m trying to plan a vacation and I wanna go to either New York or LA, just because I know both places have a lot of cultural stuff going on. But I can’t decide which one. So, can you, like, give me a New York City plug?
Beth: Well, for sure. New York City is amazing. There are million things to do and I think the people are really nice and kind of crazy there. And I recently heard that LA is, was voted the least friendliest city, so I say go New York.
Miguel: Wow. That’s actually surprising to hear about LA, but the main benefit to LA is the really good weather. Do you know what the weather’s like in New York right now?
Beth: It’s probably still very cold, because the winters seem to last a little longer there.
Miguel: Well, I’ll have to take everything into account and, uh, make a decision. I gotta make reservations soon.

I’m sure Miguel would have fun if he went to LA, but I think New York is definitely the superior city. One of its greatest benefits is that it’s so walkable. You can see so much just by walking around and you never have to drive. And, if you want to travel from one place to another and you don’t feel like walking, you can just hop on the subway.
If you do come to New York, here’s an insider tip: Make sure to check out the American Folk Art Museum. It’s one of the coolest buildings in the city!
Have a great week!
Beth
